Oh, those cute cats! Is there a person who doesn’t love them?
Recently I made a present for my friends – crocheted cat coasters and I hasten to share my pattern with you.
This is completely my own pattern and I hope you will enjoy it. For crocheting, you will need set of three colors yarn, although you can use more or less at your discretion.
To create coasters, I recommend using cotton yarn because it is easy to clean.
Material:
- Phildar Phil Coton 3 (50 g / 121 m), Colors: Poudre, Corail, Silver, and 4 mm crochet hook.
- Bamboo yarn (50 g / 200 m) Color White and 1.5 mm crochet hook.
- needle, needle for embroidery, black thread for embroidery, scissors
Measurement: Cat coaster is approx. 4.1 inches (10.5 cm) high and 3.7 inches (9.5 cm) wide.
Abbreviations Used (In American Terms)
- st= stitch
- sts= stitches
- sc = single crochet
- hdc = half double crochet
- dc = double crochet
- trc = treble crochet
- sl st = slip stitch
- Inc = increase
How to crochet cat coasters:
Work in Poudre color yarn. Make Magic Ring.
Round 1: Sc 6 into magic ring, sl.st. to join (6 sts).
Round 2: Sc 2 in each st. around, sl.st. to join (12 sts)
Round 3: Hdc 2 in each st. around, sl.st. to join (24 sts)
Round 4: [ Sc 3, Inc ] repeat [ ] around, sl.st. to join (30 sts)
Round 5: [ Sc 4, Inc ] repeat [ ] around, sl.st. to join (36 sts)
Round 6: [ Dc 4 in same st., skip 2 st. ] repeat [ ] around, sl.st. to join (48 sts)
Round 7: [ Sc 7, Inc ] repeat [ ] around, sl.st. to join (54 sts)
Round 8: [ Sc 8, Inc ] repeat [ ] around, sl.st. to join (60 sts)
Join Corail color yarn.
Round 9: Sc 9, Inc, Sc 9, Dc 1, Trc, Ch 1, Trc into same st., Dc 1, Sc 8, Dc 1, Trc, Ch 1, Trc into same st., Dc 1, [ Sc 9, Inc ] x 2 times, Sc 5, Inc, Sc 1, sl.st. to join (70 sts)
Join Silver color yarn.
Round 10: Sc 6, Inc, Sc 7, Inc, Sc 6, Dc 1, [Dc 1, Trc 1, Ch 1, Trc 1, Dc 1 ] into same st., Dc 1, Sc 8, Dc 1, [Dc 1, Trc 1, Ch 1, Trc 1, Dc 1 ] into same st., , Dc 1, Sc 6, Inc, Sc 7, Inc , Sc 2, Ch 35, sl.st. to second st. from hook, sl.st. 33, Sc into last Sc, Sc 4, Dc 3 into same st., Hdc 1, Sc 5, Hdc 1, Dc 3 into same st., Sc 3, sl.st. to join. Fasten off.
Cat’s whiskers: Take Silver color yarn, cut 3 pieces 1.6 inches (4 cm) long. Take the embroidery needle and black color thread. Sew a cat whiskers in the middle. Fasten off.
Cat’s eyes: Work white color yarn. Make Magic Ring.
Round 1: Sc 6 into magic ring, sl.st. to join (6 sts).
Round 2: Sc 2 in each st. around, sl.st. to join (12 sts) Fasten off.
Take the embroidery needle and black color thread. Embroider black pupils. Take a needle and a white color thread. Sew eyes as in the picture.
