My last two posts were about cats. We made crocheted cat coasters and cat applique. Today I want to please puppy lovers too. We will make crochet dog face appliques. This is my own pattern, I made it according to my daughter’s drawing. It turned out pretty nice, didn’t it?
It can be used to decorate children’s things: clothes, bag, hat. Or these puppies can be used for any decor.
Materials:
- I used Golden Sun cotton yarn 50 gr / 180 m (pink and rose colors),
- crochet hook 1.5 mm
- needle for embroidery, black thread for embroidery, scissors
Measurement: Dog is approx. 1.6 inches ( 4 cm) high and 2.4 inches (6 cm) wide.
Abbreviations Used (In American Terms)
sts= stitches
sc = single crochet
dc = double crochet
hdc = half double crochet
sl st = slip stitch
Inc = increase
How to crochet dog face applique:
Dog head:
Work in rose color yarn. Magic Ring.
Round 1: 6 sc into magic ring (6)
Round 2: 6 Inc around (12)
Round 3: [ Sc, Inc ] x 6 times around (18)
Round 4: [ 2 Sc, Inc ] x 6 times around (24)
Round 5: [ 3 Sc, Inc ] x 6 times around (30)
Round 6: [ 4 Sc, Inc ] x 6 times around (36)
Fasten off.
Left ear: Ch 11, 1 sl.st. to second stitch from hook, 2 sl.st., 3 sc, 2 hdc, 1 dc, 3 dc into one stitch, Ch 2, sl.st. to same stitch. Fasten off.
Right ear: Ch 12, 3 dc into third stitch from hook, 1 dc, 2 hdc, 3 sc, 3 sl.st. Fasten off.
Mouth:
Work in pink color yarn. Magic Ring.
Round 1: 6 Sc into magic ring (6)
Round 2: 6 Inc around (12)
Round 3: [ Sc, Inc ] x 6 times around (18)
Using a needle and a black thread, embroider a nose and mouth. Glue the eyes of the button or beads. Connect all the details, sew on the ears.
